Feed error
Item disapprovedLanding page not working
An unavailable landing page error means Google could not load the page at the product's link when it crawled it, so the item is disapproved. On Shopify it usually means the product was unpublished, archived or renamed after the feed was built, or the storefront was password protected or briefly down.

Why it happens on Shopify
The product is no longer on the Online Store
Archiving a product, setting it to draft or removing it from the Online Store sales channel takes the product page offline, so its URL returns a 404. A feed that still includes the product sends Google to a page that does not exist.
The product handle changed
The handle forms the product URL. Renaming it without a redirect breaks every link built from the old handle, including the ones in a feed generated before the change.
The storefront is password protected
While a Shopify store is behind a password, crawlers see the password page instead of the product. That is common during a launch or redesign and makes every landing page unavailable.
Redirects or server errors interrupt the crawl
Long redirect chains, geolocation redirects from apps, bot protection and temporary server errors all stop the crawler reaching the page, even when it loads normally in a browser.
The link itself is malformed
Links must start with http:// or https://, use the domain registered in Merchant Center, and encode special characters. A hand-built link that breaks any of these fails before the page is ever requested.
How to fix it
-
Test the exact link from the feed
Use the URL inspection tool in Search Console with the desktop or smartphone fetch type that matches the error. That shows what Google receives, which can differ from what you see logged in to your own store.
-
Keep the feed in step with what is published
Only include products that are active and available on the Online Store sales channel. A feed that regenerates from current catalogue data drops archived and draft products automatically.
-
Add redirects when handles change
Shopify offers to create a URL redirect when you edit a product handle. Keep that option ticked, or add the redirect under URL redirects, so old links keep working while the feed catches up.
-
Remove the storefront password before going live
Submitting a feed while the store is password protected guarantees landing page errors. Launch the store first, then submit products.
-
Request a recheck once the page works
Merchant Center lets you request a website check from the product details. The review can take up to 12 hours, and errors typically clear within a couple of days.
How feedlab handles this
feedlab syncs the Shopify catalogue and builds link from each product's current handle and the store's domain, so renamed or archived products do not leave stale links in a scheduled feed. Validation before publish flags rows whose link is empty or malformed.
Frequently asked questions
The page loads fine for me. Why does Google say it is unavailable?
Google may have crawled it at a moment it was down, been redirected by a geolocation or bot protection app, or seen a password page. Test with the URL inspection tool to see the page as Google fetches it, then request a recheck.
What is the difference between the desktop and mobile versions of this error?
They report which crawler failed. The causes and fixes are the same, but test with the matching fetch type, because some redirects and apps treat mobile and desktop visitors differently.
How long does it take for the error to clear?
After you request a website check Google can take up to 12 hours to review the page, and the error generally clears within a couple of days. Without a request, Google rechecks the page on its own schedule.
Related errors
- Page not crawlable due to robots.txt A "page not crawlable due to robots.txt" error means the store's robots.txt blocks Googlebot or Googlebot-Image from the product page or image, so Google cannot check it and disapproves the item. On Shopify it usually traces back to a customised robots.txt.liquid template or an app that added blocking rules.
- Mismatched domains A "Mismatched domains" error means the product's link uses a different domain from the website registered in Merchant Center, so the item is disapproved. On Shopify it usually means the feed builds links on the myshopify.com address or an old domain while the account is registered to the store's custom domain.
- Mismatched value: availability The availability mismatch error means the feed says an item is purchasable but the crawled landing page suggests otherwise, or the reverse. On Shopify it is usually a stale feed after a sell-out, or an availability value derived from inventory quantity alone without accounting for variants that do not track inventory or that allow overselling.
